Google AdSense extend the “Ads by Google” label to Rich Media ads

It is quite possible that the “Ads by Google” tagline together with advertisements on websites you visit has been catching your eye with more frequency lately. Your eyes are not playing tricks on you. Google has been including this with all of the advertisements they do.

You might wonder why Google is doing this? The answer is simple: They have decided to let people know where the advertisements they are seeing online are originating.

As the number of companies using rich media in advertising formats increases (for example, Flash or interactive advertisements), Google is hoping to let the consumers know that Google also offers those format options.

Beginning from Oct 15, Google plans to attach the “Ads by Google” tagline to all of their rich media advertisements. This will be included in a way so as not to be detrimental to the creativity of the advertisement and without detracting from your website in any way. Google has designed this tagline to be similar to the others they are currently using in all of their advertising formats.

Before long, you may spot a tiny “i” (to denote “information”) icon overlay in the lower right portion of the advertisements. This will pop up whenever the user moves their mouse over the icon. Google created this specifically for rich media advertisements. Their plan is for this to be on advertisements that are constructed by AdWords advertisers. This will be seen on any of the website’s basic AdSense ad units.

As usual, when a user clicks the tagline “Ads by Google,” they will be redirected to an area that will offer more information regarding online advertisements along with details about the advertisements they just saw. Google’s research indicates that using this modern tagline format in rich media advertisements will allow users to learn the material with no negative effects to the functionality of the advertisements.

If you use Ads by Google, you will still be able to create custom advertisements for your website which add to the overall appearance and experience of your website. There will still be the ability to target your advertisements to a specific group. And of course, the online tracking reports will continue to allow you to understand which formats and placements work best for you.

Google’s advertising programs enable you to get your advertisements out there where they will be seen by every person who uses Google. This is particularly valuable to you as with other, more traditional methods of advertising you just do not have that option. With Google’s programs, your advertisements can be positioned to be seen by anyone who uses Google to search for a product that is similar, or even just like, yours. This means you get more bang for your buck.

Which leads to one of the most important considerations in making decision about advertisements: money. Google will continue to help you maintain your costs by offering services like pay per click, where you only pay if a potential customer actually accesses (or clicks) on your advertisement.

We are confident that this change will not affect the successes you have always enjoyed with Ads by Google.
